I drank a glass of vinegar thirty minutes before my parents peee tested me for marijuana will it be clear?

my parents got me tested 2 days after i smoked a blunt, but i smoke alost everyday...

but luckily i decided to stop, and they met me at my two day mark.

around thirty minutes before i went, i drank a coffee cup full of vinegar and peed twice before than,

do you think it would come clear?I drank a glass of vinegar thirty minutes before my parents peee tested me for marijuana will it be clear?
nope. your basically screwed. if they plan on punishing you. First of all if you smoke everyday it stays in your system way longer 1-2 months, so obviously a two day break did absolutley nothing. secondly, coffee and vinegar and taking a piss wont do anything to help you pass a drug test. Nothing at all. The only thing that might help would be drinking alot of water, which dilutes the urine (harder to trace THC). You really need to learn about what your doing. Im all for legalization but come one, At the moment its illegal you have to be smart about it. THC is stored in fat cells. You have to burn fat to get rid of it.

excuse - maby say you were at a party with alot of weed smoke or a concert. second hand. may work or not. ALSO!!!! man since your probably not 18 because you are getting a drug test by your parents, teach them the truth about marijuana. show em norml.com leap.cc and ';the union- the buisness behind getting high'; the video. (very informative)

Gooood LuckI drank a glass of vinegar thirty minutes before my parents peee tested me for marijuana will it be clear?
No, sorry, once the weed is in your blood stream it will be in there for atleast a week. And vinager just taste's gross, so dont drink any vinager. But when your parents find out, say someone raped you and forced you to. Dude im jk, Good Luck! ~~~~JessiBoo
no

marijuana can stay in your system if you smoke occasionally for up to 10 days, if it's used regularly up to 45 days.
Not likely.

THC can take 7-30 days to clear your system; any remotely decent lab would be able to detect THC.

Nope, THC stays in your system for about 7 days to 30 days. Vinegar does nothing for ya.
No, marijuana stays in the system a long time.
Probably not... drinking vinegar does nothing except taste bad.
The Word is...BUSTED. Sorry!
No, it takes 30 days to be out of your system
Nope

  • I want to make the clear glass ornaments that you put paint in the inside but do not know the paints to use.?

First, thoroughly wash out the inside of the ornament. Use either a vinegar solution (that can usually be found in on the label of glass paint containers) or rubbing alcohol. Allow to dry completely. You can use either plain acrylic craft paint, or, at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc., you can find paint designed specifically for glass. The instructions may also call for prep with a glass conditioner, which will give a ';tooth'; for the paint to cling to. Remember, this is a shape that is extremely complex for the colors to adhere to. And when you are finished applying the paint, allow the excess to drain by putting the ornament, opening side down, into a cup for at least 24 hours....otherwise, when it dries, it will weigh about five pounds.I want to make the clear glass ornaments that you put paint in the inside but do not know the paints to use.?
you can use any kind of acrylic craft paint from your local craft store. At the link below it shows you a specific style of painting and a specific brand to use. But, you can use any brand. Have fun!

My husband and I clean rental homes after the tenants have been evicted, pretty bad!!! We cleaned the shower doors with a product found online www.viperwiper.com. Use it with alcohol if it is real bad you'll need a whole bottle of alcohol but it will get everything in that bathroom shining bright ready for show!! This product is amazing it cleans everything and is machine washable, I have had mine for years!!
What you probably have is calcium carbonate deposits, otherwise known as ';lime';. Any of the commercial products like CLR or Lime Away that the others have mentioned will work. Those products are acids that are chemically strong enough to strip it away. As long as you're not stupid with those products, they're safe to use, but do use rubber gloves, especially if your skin is sensitive, and run the bathroom vent fan to make sure you have some ventilation. DON'T MIX CLEANING CHEMICALS!! That is dangerous! Rinse those products away before you try doing the regular cleaning to finish up.

i don think so ..he is into drugs...why on earth he will ..make it..he will just buy it if he wants to...My 18 year old son had a bag with two jars of clear chemicals, razor blade, glass baking dish and cough syrup?
Look at the active ingredients. If one of them happens to be Dextromethorphan, he's probably trying to extract that (DXM). I guess it's not the worst thing he could be doing. If that's the case it's only other active ingredient is Guafnesin (sp).

However if it's active ingredients are along the lines of Pseudoephedrine and such...well...possibly meth.

Another thing, DXM extraction uses ammonia and naptha (lighter fluid). It sounds like that may be the case, given the two different clear jars.

If so, let him read this...DXM will mess you up. Fun as hell each and every time...for a while. Imagine never being able to fully waken up, legs constantly fatigued as though exercising vigorously, awakening at night in terror, sweat and disorientation. Paranoia doesn't even begin to describe this...oh yeah, i've been off for several months.

A time or two won't hurt you too much, and can be an eye opening experience...but drugs like this aren't 'designed' to just be used a couple times and walk away. They viciously dig their claws into you and you will be bloody and screaming by the time you get free.
how big were the jars?? cough syrup will be for drug abuse, razor blade maybe for self infliction or for attention, not sure about glass baking dish though. if the jars of clear chemicals are really really small it could be juice/ GHB
    Nothing good.

    You should inform the police.
Confront him. It sounds like he's gotten into drugs.
sounds like he is making meth
umm sounds like drugs or a bomb honestly. i would talk to him....

    Is television glass clear?

My friend and I are about to start a project where we will obtain an old television from a junkyard or something and remove the top and take out the insides, seal up the edges and make it a fish tank, but first we want to know if the TV glass will be clear after we remove the TV insides. Is it clear or that brownish color? Because if its the brown color we will have to get a different piece of glass to put in there. Is television glass clear?
The glass is part of the picture tube. You wont be able to separate the front from the rest of the tube. And if you could it is coated with chemicals that would kill the fish.

You might find an old console. If so you would be best off putting in your own glass. Water is heavy and the glass needs to be thick and sealed to prevent breakage and leakage.

Picture of a TV picture tube laying down:

    http://www.reton.cz/crt/dt/23lcd01_01.jp鈥?/a>

BTW: Be VERY careful with the picture tube. Highly dangerous. Can explode if dropped or punctured. Is television glass clear?
Do not do this. It is a very bad idea.

First, TV glass is not clear, tends to be dark to reduce the effects of internal reflections.

But mainly you have phosphors all over the inside of the screen. If it does not poison you it will poison the fish.

CRTs also have a vacuum inside them. This makes them into a potential bomb. If the glass breaks then there is 15 lbs/inch^2 pushing on those pieces. Large parts of glass can move with enough velocity to make a real mess of you.

If you really, really want to have a TV fish tank, then just get the TV case from the junk yard and let them deal with the CRT and the electronics. Use some sheets of thick acrylic to build your tank inside the TV case, and remember to use an aquarium safe glue.

Also remember that you are going to need to access the tank to feed the fish and to clean out the tank and change the water. You may want to modify the TV case so there is a trap door in the top for easy access.
Kinda, depends on model, but there's supposed to be a filter that you remove thats black. Try www.instructables.com for a similar project

Why should milk not be stored in clear glass bottles?

I remember something about that, heard it on the news I think - evidently some vitamins are reduced from exposure to the florescent lights they use in the grocery stores, but if they use an opaque container (the plastic milk jugs or paper cartons) the effect the light has on the vitamins is eliminated.

This article: http://www.allbusiness.com/manufacturing鈥?/a> goes on to talk about how lights effects on vitamins is stronger in skim milk than in whole milk.

Personally I don't know how much is reduced - and I remember the good old days when milk came in a heavy glass bottle. We would go to the dairy directly to get milk and bring back the empty bottles to be sterilized and re-used. Seemed milk tasted better out of those big bottles! But I bet I'm just being nostalgic. Why should milk not be stored in clear glass bottles?

it goes bad faster becacause it get collder and the sun can hit it more making it bad
    its breakable
    light! spoils milk faster.

There are glass catfish as you know as well as several varieties of shrimp. There are also Perch from India that are called Glass Fish. There are several varieties available for freshwater as well as brackish water. There are hump head glass fish and several with very very faint colors and some with amazing trailers on their fins. These used to be common though have become rare over the last 20 years or so. The most beautiful are the brackish humpheads and brackish one's with the great trailers. Faucet glass is what they use on most bathroom windows and some shower doors. You know where you can see an image but cant make it out. A lot of ppl call it privacy glass. The clear glass is exactly what it is. Clear. Like a wine glass or normal window in the house! What is the diference between facet glass to clear?
Clear glass is like the windshield in your car.

Faceted glass is like a diamond gemstone. The surface of the glass is not entirely flat, it is faceted. There are cuts on the surface to give it depth and dimension.

The surface of faceted glass is not smooth, but cut so when you look through it, the image behind it is distorted .

    Hope that clarifies your question.

I have a clear glass shower door with water spots....?

How do and what do i use to remove water spots from a clear shower glass door?I have a clear glass shower door with water spots....?
Lime-Away and follow directions on the bottle.I have a clear glass shower door with water spots....?
Start with vinegar and water, 30 to 70. If that doesn't work go for a chemical like lime away, it's strong, wear rubber gloves, this should do the job.
Vinegar...plain old no-name vinegar...its so simple its hard to believe it works! use it straight from the bottle ...no need to dilute it...smells awful %26amp; works great. I use it every week on my glasss shower screens.
A sponge dipped in white vinegar will take care of that for you.
Clean it first and always use a squeegee after showers to keep it from spotting.
Try baby shampoo on a washcloth. Rinse well. Then Rain-X it if so desired.

Thick glass like look for acrylic painting, almost like a clear honey look, what is it?

I saw a painting with a thick honey like glass coat over it, I would like to know if anyone know what it is called and where I can get some for my acrylic painting.Thick glass like look for acrylic painting, almost like a clear honey look, what is it?
Michael's right. Although, it's more likely to be called ';medium.'; Medium can be mixed in with the paints to make them spread more easily and dry faster. Or it can be applied after the painting is complete to give it a coating. The kind of coating you are describing is done with a gloss medium, as opposed to a matte medium which would be flat. And I agree that if it has a thick honey-like glassy feel, that it is probably several layers of a gloss medium. So, in the store, you want to look for Acrylic Medium in gloss.

A ';glaze'; usually has some paint in it -- it is paint thinned with medium to create a thin translucent layer of color. A different process from what you're describing.Thick glass like look for acrylic painting, almost like a clear honey look, what is it?
Art supply store. It is a 'glaze' that helps dry the paint and protect it. Several brands available. If it was that noticable, chances are, the artist applied several coats.

  • How to do glass mosaic on a clear glass vase without grout showing through to inside of vase?

    Do not use grout.

Use clear glue and try not to use so much that it shows between the tiles.

I think it will be the most beautiful if you use glass 'tiles' rather than pottery.

Why is water clear in a glass but appears blue in a white bath?

The reason in a glass it appears clear and in a larger scale such as the sea (or perhaps the bath, though Ive never seen it blue in the bath...perhaps your bath water is full of dissolved impurities like Cu2+, lol) is because water defragments light. What happens is as light travels through water, the water ';bends'; the light. In actuality, it slow it down so that the angle of the light hitting the water is altered by the time it departs from it. Colour is where light has different wavelengths, such as the colour red has a wavelength of 700nm (nanometre) and violet has a wavelength of 400nm. When light hits objects, they absorb all wavelengths of light except that of the colour we see. Therefore if we look at a brown table, the table reflects only brown light and absorbs all other colours (wavelengths) of light. In a similar way, water absorbs all frequencies of light except a certain frequency of blue. The frequency of blue is 450鈥?95 nm, through ranging between 450鈥?95 nm, we get different shades of blue, for example royal blue, turquoise etc. Water absorbs a large amount number of frequencies, including red, and so only a very small frequency of light is reflected from the water. Therefore in order for our eyes to be able to perceive the blue colour of the water, we need a large amount. Therefore the more water there is, the more blue it will appear, like the sea is deep blue (large amount of water therefore more blue light on the specific frequency to be captured by the eye), streams are light blue (small amount of water therefore less blue light on the specific frequency to be captured by the eye).

    Therefore in conclusion:

All water is blue, but per mole (molecule) only a small amount of blue light is detected by our eyes, and so by increasing the amount of water, increases the amount of blue light reflected and so it appears more blue with more water.

HOPE THIS HELPED! :DWhy is water clear in a glass but appears blue in a white bath?
Your more than welcome, well some people on here as very stupid questions with a lack of common sense so perhaps the people who commented just asumed you were one of these people. Glad i helped you! :D

Why is water clear in a glass but appears blue in a white bath?
It should not appear blue in a bath unless you've put blue bubble bath in! Are the wall, ceiling or curtains in the bathroom blue? It sounds more like blue light being reflected!
Maybe you just did not notice your mum putting in the blue bath salts
    very good question
If your glass had the size of a bath, it would appear slightly blue as well. If your glass had the size of an ocean it would appear deep blue.

The longer distance light has to travel in (clean) water, the more blue the water will appear. This is because of the reflexion of light passing through the water molecules.

For the same reason, the sky is blue as well (which is then reflected into the water of the see adding to the blue impression)

Seas and oceans may have other colors like green, brown and even red, this is caused by algae, mud or sand and, unfortunately, pollution.
    are u watching cartoons?
water actually has a very very light blue colour

and it is only in large quantities that u can actually see a bluish tint
the official colour of water is blue.it appears clear in a glass due to the fact that there is not enough to produce a blue colour.in the bath the is just enough (depending how much you put in it)to produce a pale blue.

this is caused by light passing thru the water particles the more particles the darker the blue
The water in my bath doesnt appear blue.
Water is a strong absorber of infrared radiation, and this property of absorption also somewhat affects visible red light. Because white light that passes through water has some of it's red part taken away, the light takes on a bluish tint.
water dose not have acolor but appers to be green in pool becouse of the algie or other plants and appears to be blue in oceans or very lagre amount of water container like sea when u look from a far and it is becouse of the nitrogen that hav the bluish color and it is about 70% in the atmosphere so u do not actually see color of water but color of nitrogen also oxygen have a little bluish color and O3 which is made from oxygen the ozone is also bluish color and O2 the oxygen like I already siad is blue
Yes it does seem blue, but I have never thought about it...i dont know
Pure water would be clear. Tap water takes on tints in larger volumes because the tint is so light you can't see it in a small volume like a glass, you need a bigger sample of water like a tub.
Strange. On my vacation in Schotland some time ago, water appeared to be pretty brown over there, where I was...

Which will heat up faster colored glass, clear glass, or will they heat up equally as fast?

Their the same regardless if there's color or notWhich will heat up faster colored glass, clear glass, or will they heat up equally as fast?
Coloured glass will heat up faster because it absorbs some of the light. For instance, if the glass was coloured red, and you shine white light through it, all the component colours of light except for red are absorbed by the glass, meaning that red light is all that can get through. The rest of the light energy that has been absorbed has to go somewhere, as the laws of conservation of energy state that energy cannot be created or destroyed. This means the absorbed light energy is converted into heat energy which heats up the block. Because the clear glass lets 99.9% of the light through, hardly any light is absorbed and therefore there is little heating in the clear block.Which will heat up faster colored glass, clear glass, or will they heat up equally as fast?
it should be pretty close..but darker glass absorbs more light so it might be a little faster, but not significantly.

Where can I find empty clear glass wine bottles???

Ask family and friends to save them up for you. If you are going to use them to make your own wine, any bottle that had a cork will do. You can also buy them from u-brew places.Where can I find empty clear glass wine bottles???
typically white wines come in either brown or clear bottles. Alot of chardonnay and reisling bottles are tan and a lot of pinot gris and pinot grigio bottles are clear. You can find full ones at liquor stores and grocery stores but the only place you can find empty ones are at recycling centers and you have to find people that brought them and havent recycled them yet (they are crushed and broken up when recycled). I have also seen them next to people's trashcans but i would never go digging through people's trash...gross and illegal.Where can I find empty clear glass wine bottles???
    www.fillmorecontainter.com
Have you tried your local craft store? We have a place here called Garden Ridge Pottery and I saw some empty, clear wine bottles there last week.
Here in Crystal palace in London people leave lots of empty bottles in crates outside the bottle bank .. take many as you like
You can find something similar at Pier One, Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, BB%26amp;B, LNT, Marshall's, TJ Maxx, and even Goodwill or thrift stores.

Either that, or ask your local bartender to save you a few. Shouldn't take long.
Next to the dumpsters where some of the homeless sleep?

You might need to buy a full bottle at the store, and get somebody to drink it before it is empty.

Just joking--check it out on the web.
Wine bottles are colored to protect the wine from the effects of light and heat, so it may be hard to find a clear one.

If it must be a wine bottle, maybe the ones that are covered in plastic, or vinyl might be clear glass. Or sometimes the cheap, refrigerated, sweet stuff is in a clear bottle.
cheap wine comes in clear glass bottles like red rose
Try a bar or a restaurant, they just throw them out.
World market but look for the bottles used to make those pretty oil and pepper bottles
A true ';wine'; bottle will never be clear. Sunlight does weird things to wine, so they color the bottles to keep some of the light out (like sunglasses). I would suggest a store like Pier 1 Imports or Williams Sonoma.
If you want the El-Cheapo route...try a Flea Market. If you want to spend a few dollars, a kitchen gadget store will have them...
    at the free market
I have a couple of resturants save their bottles for me. A recycleing center is a great place to get them too.
Have you tried asking your neighnours?

    What makes glass clear?

It is a solid so what makes it so special that light can pass through it?What makes glass clear?
Sorry but It is an Urban legend that glass is a liquid :(

For those that are asserting that glass is a liquid then I refer them to the following link. http://www.weburbia.demon.co.uk/physics/鈥?/a> if you only read one part then read the conclusion!

and to Florin Neuman's paper http://dwb.unl.edu/Teacher/NSF/C01/C01Li鈥?/a>

Though it does have some liquid like properties (disordered structure) it also has solid properties (elasticity). Glass's behaviour is not that of a highly viscous liquid. Glass doesn't flow!

As to why you can see through glass http://science.howstuffworks.com/questio鈥?/a>What makes glass clear?
    That's a really good riddle
Glass isn't a solid, it's actually a liquid... strange but true!

You can see through it for the same reasons that you can see through water.

Conventional liquids, when cooled, have a freezing point at which they suddenly become solid. Liquid glass, by contrast, simply gets gradually stiffer as it cools. At room temperature its rate of flow is so slow that it would take billions of years to ooze out of shape, and for most practical purposes it may be treated as a solid.

Its internal structure, though, is not the regular crystalline latticework of your standard solid, but rather is essentially random, like the typical liquid. As with many liquids, the rather loosely spaced molecules in glass are simply not big enough to obstruct the passage of light particles.
Actually, glass is a liquid which just flow very very very slow (high viscosity). Crystal glass is a solid. It's not because something is solid that it shouldn't be clear, a liquid on the other hand is often not clear either. You can look through water, glass, and many other things because the visual light is not completely scattered by the molecules and the structure that make up the material.
The fact that you can see through it?

  • Is there a way to make my crystal wine glasses clear again?

Over time, my lovely crystal glasses have gone all milky. I did wash them in the dishwasher which usually turns out sparkling results, but it's had the opposite effect. Any way of making them clear again? Is there a way to make my crystal wine glasses clear again?
Try soaking them in a vinegar solution and then hand washing in hot water. If it's limescale build up the vinegar will see to it.Is there a way to make my crystal wine glasses clear again?
Soak items in undiluted white vinegar.
Simply fill the glasses with tepid water and drop a steradent tablet or powder (this is used for cleaning false teeth), leave overnight and rinse off. Should clear the problem
Crystal Wine Glasses are definitely the most elegant of glasses and they know it, standing tall and acting as if they are the Holy Grail. Because of this, they require a lot of tender loving care and they need more attention than other types of dinnerware. If they don’t receive it they will likely rebel, forfeiting their ability to enhance the taste of wine and ruining it in the process.

Crystal is porous and can absorb flavors — particularly soapy flavors — with relative ease. If this absorption happens, you might have a clean wine glass, but you will also have a wine glass that alters the flavor of your wine, adding in a dollop of detergent.

Use Washing Soda: Washing soda — and baking soda works too, but not as well — is a type of cleaning soda that is designed for use on glass in a gentle, but complete, manner. It is made to be a cleaner that won’t be absorbed by crystal. Most grocery stores sell it in the detergent aisle.

Use the Force of Lukewarm Water: Like non-crystal wine glasses, crystal wine glasses can be washed simply with water. Making sure the water is lukewarm in temperature, rinse the wine glass repeatedly. If the wine won’t come out, add just a drop of very mild detergent and gently wash with a soft cloth. Never use a steel or wool pad; your crystal wine glasses will never speak to you again.

Don’t Use the Dishwasher: While the Maytag man would probably assert that dishwashers are safe enough for crystal wineglasses, the truth of the matter is the dishwasher can ruin the wine glass one of two ways. While one of these ways simply involves placing your wine glass in the dishwasher, allowing it to run, and then opening it up only to find that your one crystal wine glasses are now several pieces of crystal wine glass. The other way a dishwasher can ruin it is by allowing detergent to bake into the crystal. This baking causes the wine glass to cloud, ruining it and refuting the old “crystal clear” saying.

Place Over Boiling Water: The experts at the Riedel Wine Glass Company suggest that to make your crystal wine glass really shine, hold the glass over a pot of boiling water, allowing the steam to cover it. Once this “steam bath” is finished, simply dry the wine glasses with a linen towel.

Taking care of dinnerware can be no fun: the easily aggravated wine drinker may simply refuse to give their dinnerware proper care, telling their wine collection to kiss their glass. But, taking proper care of wine glasses is elemental in making sure the wine glasses hold their ability to add to wine’s elegance, never losing their edge and beating a regular old cup by a stem.
Hopefully the issue is just lime/scale and then the vinegar soak will work. However, they could be etched and in that case it's too late.

In the future keep nice crystal out of the dishwasher. I used to always add 1/2 cup white vinegar to dishwasher load just to counter the very hard water where I used to live. That really helped make the washer much more effective. Just get the gigantic bottle of plain wrap vinegar. My dishwasher lasted longer too.
warm vinegar or lemon juice will do the trick it also removes lime scale great for glass too
well the only way I know %26amp; that works . If the glass is badly stained with lime scale deposits, fill the glass with distilled water , leave like this for 1 week then brush of crust it will form with a toothbrush.I f they are only slightly stained ,then leave over night in a mixture of washing up liquid and a small amount of ammonia
Keep them filled with Red Wine then nobody will notice

Is there an easy/fast way to remove clear protective film from new french doors with several glass panels?

use a blow drier just heat up the film only a couple seconds then use a knife (utility) or your fingerIs there an easy/fast way to remove clear protective film from new french doors with several glass panels?
Goop Off will do it greatIs there an easy/fast way to remove clear protective film from new french doors with several glass panels?
I have used a razor to remove the clear plastic and then wipe the glass with a glass cleaner it has done the trick for me in the past. Good luck!!
When I do this I use a razor blade scraper, NOT a utility knife! Also, heating it up may leave a mess of sticky glue residue. I scrape as much as I can with the scraper, then I soak a rag with a solvent like paint thinner or Goof Off, and rub away any glue residue.

when a person put a clear liquid in a glass and turn it upside down on a dish is this voodoo?

what does it mean when a person put a clear liquid in a glass and turn it upside down on a dish is this some type of magick practice if so what? when a person put a clear liquid in a glass and turn it upside down on a dish is this voodoo?
It's called suction when a person put a clear liquid in a glass and turn it upside down on a dish is this voodoo?
You may be referring to the little ';experiment'; often performed in High School Physics or Chemistry classes.

A glass of water is held in the Professor's hand. He puts a firm flat rigid object like a square piece of plastic over the top covering the glass and then flips it upside down and releases. The glass stays as is and the water remains in the glass.

This is one of hundreds of ';amazing'; scientific feats which do not involve magic or voodoo, but scientific principles. So, what keeps the water from gushing out of the glass?

Two principles: vacuum pressure within the glass and air-pressure without which equalize each other.

Now when a man can flip a glass of water upside down without a lid or cover on it and hold it there for 30 seconds or more without the water flowing out, I'd call it Voodoo.

I love the famous ';Levitating Faucet trick'; which I observed at a Ripley's Museum. It also involves science [the science of illusion] and not any real magic.

    Here's a photo of this trick: http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/vi鈥?/a>

No Voodoo here, just clear plastic or glass tubing! This is a great illusion which really baffles 'em esp. the children. Water flows up the tubing which also supports the faucet and then flows down the outside concealing the tubing. It looks like a faucet suspended in mid air and connected to nothing is continually producing water.

There are ton's of ';magic'; tricks that only aren't really magic but involve physical science like the bed of nails trick. You'll notice few brave men lying on a bed of nails that has only ONE nail. This little hint will show you what's going on in that trick.

    There are thousands of these.

My Chemistry professor was also a stage illusionist. He'd take a glass of ordinary water. Bonk it with a cane, and it would turn blue, then bonk it again, pink, then again and back to water's normal state. How did he do it?

Not by Voodoo, but by clever trickery and the principles of Chemistry.

The scientist is capable of more tricks than any Master of Voodoo could dream of. But there is a difference. The scientist aims to inform and educate, the Voodoo practitioner and other occultists aim to take your hard-earned money for their services. They aim to deceive.
It's merely a simple exercise in Physics!

    Relax.
    idiot alert.....

Sorry, but you cannot honestly be serious.
Its the evil magic of SCIENCE!!! Do not believe! God will kill you if you do!!!!!

Have you ever walked into a window or a clear glass door?

Yep, I walked it to the sliding glass door going out into my garden. I was camping out in the garden with some of my friends and when to go inside. Instead of just stepping inside i did a kind of little jump onto what I thought would be the carpet inside. But I went thwack! off the glass door. I was lucky all my friends were still inside the tent and didn't see me.Have you ever walked into a window or a clear glass door?
Oh Lord yes! I slammed into the door leaving the bank. Knocked myself from here to tomorrow- mega embarrassing!

It wasn't my branch and I just assumed that, like mine, that particular door would open.I barrelled into it head down busily putting things into my handbag.
No but i bumped into a screen at my neighbors house it was pretty embarrassing. She said ';Be careful, we have to open it first';.

Do you have a photo that is printed on photo paper that you could use as a test?

It could be the paper used for the printing or the ink in the printer.

Test and eliminate.Having decoupage troubles on clear glass plates?
I'm not sure but it sounds like the ink from your printer may be reacting to the glue and water (or decoupage medium).

If you printed them out on an inkjet printer, you could try sealing them first with a clear acrylic spray (lightly, a couple of coats drying between each). Then they'd be sealed enough to be protected from all the water in the decouapge medium.

Or you could print them out instead on a toner-based machine rather than an inkjet printer... in other words, on a photocopier or a laser printer. Toner is waterproof and permanent all by itself, whereas inkjet ink isn't.

Thanks!I want to pour a clear resin on top of glass to secure bottle caps in place. Do you have any suggestions?
Have done clear resin on a tabletop, with buttons. Not sure about if it would stick to glass. Glue bottle cap to surface first, so they don't move/float. Just a drop or two of super glue to hold them there.

Do it on a day with low humidity. mix slowly Pour slowly So you don't get bubbles in the resin. do about half an inch wait a couple of days for it to set then do a second pour if you need to. It shrinks a little as it cures. Resin is fun stuff. If you've not dome it before, just follow the instructions for mixing. And you might want to do a small piece first before tackling a large job..I want to pour a clear resin on top of glass to secure bottle caps in place. Do you have any suggestions?
So I just finished two glass tables using a clear resin, one adhering bottle caps, the other wine corks. Both worked flawlessly, acting as a glue. I highly recommend this method as long as you are meticulous and careful and have good ventilation.

A problem I see with bottle caps is the hollow underneath. Resin sticks to glass just fine, but the glass has to be very clean (soap and water, rinse, denatured alcohol).

If you didn't want to encase the caps, then you might look at E6000 with is a silicone adhesive that is self leveling, works well with glass and is pretty stinky. http://users.ticnet.com/mikefirth/glues.鈥?/a>

I want to glue metal to glass like that used in furniture which is a clear super strong bond, what glue is it?

Is it UV activated glue which is what I found on the net? In furniture stores I've seen items made of glass pieces and metal and glass pieces, all bonded together, with a clear bond, but very strong, what kind of glue is that? Thank-you.I want to glue metal to glass like that used in furniture which is a clear super strong bond, what glue is it?
If you are talking about glass to glass and a very tightly matched surface, then the thin glues that UV cure are doing what they are designed for. Most hardware stores should have small tubes in their glue section. UV comes from sun or rather costly high power UV lamps. If you want to glue glass to metal, because of different rates of expansion, you want a stiff silicone adhesive. E6000 is designed for arts use and flows while the Goop products from the same company flow less. I don't know if you have a Pat Catan's craft store where you live, but I know they carry the ornaments you described. I think the company Darice manufactures them, so you might be able to find them online. Other craft stores like Michaels may have those ornaments too. If not try looking on ebay or craigs list.

  • I left a clear glass full water under my bed overnight and in the morning it was full of bubbles, why?

Water has dissolved gases in it, namely oxygen. However, oxygen, which is non-polar, doesn't particularily like being dissolved in polar water, so it will readily come out of solution in the form of bubbles if it's allowed to sit there for a while.I left a clear glass full water under my bed overnight and in the morning it was full of bubbles, why?
Are you talking about bubbles on the side of the glass ?

Was your room warm ?I left a clear glass full water under my bed overnight and in the morning it was full of bubbles, why?
I used to work in a pet/aquarium store when I was a teenager. It is a well known fact that tap water has a lot of dissolved gases, the most toxic of which is Chlorine, put in the tap water to kill germs. If you want to kill your tropical fish in minutes or less, just try putting them into straight tap water. Tap water needs to be ';aged'; which means leaving it out in an open container over night to allow all of the harmful gases to bubble out and escape, and be replaced by the proper amount of Oxygen, etc. from the air. Then your fish will be fine. What you did was perform an aging process on your glass of water. Now with all of the harmful gases gone, you can feel free to put your water into your fish tank!
What kind of experiment was that? What were you trying to prove?
Water typically contains dissolved air. When the pressure is reduced, the air gradually comes out of solution and shows up as bubbles.
Water contains dissolved air. Cold water dissolves more air than warm water. As the water in your glass warmed up overnight, the solubility of the air decreased, and it came out of solution, and you saw bubbles.
    A Dog/Cat named Bubbles?
That was a strange thing to do. The water was so confused by your actions that it started convulsing and therfore making bubbles.

Why is the ocean blue but when you fill a glass with ocean water is clear?

This is actually a much more complicated question than it appears. Of course, the ocean is not ALWAYS blue, but it is often blue. It is different shades of blue at different times. It appears that the ocean's color is a combination of at least 3 processes:

    1. reflection (from the blue sky above)

    2. absorption (of other colors)

    3. scattering (of the blue part of the spectrum by suspended particles in the water, or by the water itself).

One source I found said the scattering was because of the dissolved oxygen but I find that hard to believe. Another said that the scattering was mainly due to Raman scattering. That might be true.

The blue of the sky is mainly because of scattering by oxygen and nitrogen (Rayleigh-Tyndall scattering) except at sunrise and sunset, when the ozone apparently absorbs much of the redder and orange colored light, leaving the sky overhead a dark blue.

The glass of water is too small a quantity to view the blue color. Why is the ocean blue but when you fill a glass with ocean water is clear?
the ocean is the same color of the sky. if the sky is blue then the ocean is blue, if the sky are gray, the ocean is gray. if near the shoreline, where it is not deep, the ocean is the color of it's floor.

Water are transparent, hence there is not color to the water in the ocean. Only when they reflect something, it seems like the ocean has color. Why is the ocean blue but when you fill a glass with ocean water is clear?
the affect of light rays hitting the horizon acts to remove all colors but that of the blue spectrum leaving a blue hue. similar to the affect of ozone atmosphere. light hits ozone and resonates the color blue which gives the sky that look in the day.
Tap water is inert and pure, but the oceans are full of the dead souls of millions of astronauts who have died through the years, therby creating the deep bluish glow, which scientists call ';spookularia';, and is relatively harmless. It should not be feared as superstitious people believe, but treated with great respect and solemnity.
When sunlight hits the ocean it is scattered by the water molecules that compose the ocean. Sunlight is made up of all of the colors of the rainbow (red through violet). Water molecules scatter blue light the most. This makes the ocean appear blue.

But other factors can come into the picture so that the ocean doesn't appear blue! For instance, the shores of many areas of the ocean look green. This is because the blue we would normally see is mixed with the yellow pigments of floating plants...blue and yellow make green!

Another example of water not looking blue is the Yellow Sea. It looks yellow because of the great amounts of yellow mud carried into the Sea by surrounding rivers.
Water itself is colorless, what gives it color is the refraction of sunlight.
Good question! The ocean is blue because the sky is blue, and the ocean is reflecting the sky. See link. :)

Should I remove the clear plastic film that is on the back door (glass area) of my relatively new microwave?

Im cleaning my 1 year old microwave for the first time (its not heavily used to begin with) and I noticed that as I was washing the inside/back of the door there appears to be this plastic film on the inside..almost begging to be pulled off. But its only on the glass..and it fits perfect on the glass. Anyone have any ideas whether or not I should remove this plastic film?Should I remove the clear plastic film that is on the back door (glass area) of my relatively new microwave?

Why clear glass shows green under uv?

i thought uranium glass was only pale green, yet with a uv torch , it glows green, yet other glass i have doesn't. and does this make it old?, or is it recycled glass? Why clear glass shows green under uv?
It's called ';Vaseline Glass'; or ';Uranium Glass'; and was common during the depression. Here's a reference: http://www.vaselineglass.org/

If a candle is placed in front of a piece of clear glass and you look at its reflection from an angle there r2

when you look at the reflection of the candle from directly over the flame you see one image but when the viewing angle is shifted a double image is seen. Why?If a candle is placed in front of a piece of clear glass and you look at its reflection from an angle there r2
You get a reflection from both the front and back surfaces of the glass at the change of the index of refraction at the air/glass surface. Normally the back one is considerably dimmer due to passing through the glass twice.

  • I have a blown glass full of clear stones...And today it just blowed up why did this happen?

we was at the table herd a cracking sound and glass went everywhere.. it was not hot and we have had the rocks in it for about 10 years now... can anyone tell me why this would happen its just weird lol?I have a blown glass full of clear stones...And today it just blowed up why did this happen?
The three most likely reasons are that

1 the glass had a tension in it which caused a small crack, scratch or chip to grow until it let go and the stones added to the noise

    2. if the stones were larger - like big marbles, etc. - then they might have jammed with the slight expansion and contraction of the glass container and applied enough pressure (say in cooling when the air conditioner came on) to make the weakest point let go.

    3. The piece was not properly annealed in the first place and after years it just let go on its own - this is reported in glassblowing groups.

My shower screen is frosted glass but it becomes very clear when comes in contact with water. Why is it so??

Light goes straight through smooth glass easily without being scattered. The frosted glass has a rough surface, and it scatters the light like zillions of mini prisms. When it gets wet, the water fills in the grooves, pits, and holes that the frosting put into the surface of the glass, making it smooth again, so the light goes straight through without being scattered.

The fix it so turn the glass around so that the frosted side is on the outside.

Or lock the bathroom door, like the first guy said.My shower screen is frosted glass but it becomes very clear when comes in contact with water. Why is it so??
As long as you lock your ';bathroom door.'; No problem. %26lt;}:-})

Is glass expensive? Large sheets of clear glass for tables and such?

My husband was just moving the coffee table and knocked the glass piece really hard. It didn't break, thank goodness...but between him and my 2 rough little boys, I have a feeling at least once in my life I'm going to be replacing that glass or the end tables glass....or a window, or something. So I'm wondering, how much is glass? I have no idea if it's $10 or $200.

Thanks! Is glass expensive? Large sheets of clear glass for tables and such?
Quarter inch plate glass is expensive. It is also very hard to break.

As for your windows, that really depends on the kind of window, If you have a low E argon filled double pane glass, you pretty much have to replace the whole unit. If it is just single pane it is very inexpensive. The labor is the expensive part.Is glass expensive? Large sheets of clear glass for tables and such?
Good quality, thick glass with beveled edges like that which is used on tables usually, is expensive, much more so than window glass. Best way, since it varies from supplier to supplier is simply to call a glass company in your town - give them the approximate dimensions of what you have in mind and they can tell you, probably in just a minute or two, or they may quote you a sq. ft. price and you could figure it out by measuriing your tables.

Don't bet on breaking the glass though. Might not be anything you can do about a husband who is already grown and not being careful around glass, but you can certainly teach your children that they need to be careful around the tables because they could get hurt if the glass broke and then you really would not care about how much it costs to replace but about their injury. If you have children that listen, they will learn. If you, like many of us, have obstinate children who do not always pay attention you might consider changing out the tables for something with rounded corners and no glass until they are older and can appreciate the dangers more readily. Even rough little boys can usually be taught to respect the things in their home. Don't give up on that. Their wives will thank you when they are grown.
There is several different types of glass, tables and such usually use 1/4'; or double thickness tempered glass. Most household windows are 1/8'; or single thickness. Then there is reinforced glass. This is glass with wire in it. And, finally, abrasion resistant; depending on your needs this can stop a bullet.

costs vary greatly from single thickness to abrasion resistant
The price of glass depends on the thickness and type. Thicker and stronger is dearer. Also for a tabletop you may need to have to pay for grinding the edges or bevelling for safety.
Coffee table size of plate glass with rounded corners approx. $60
    depends what kind or where

yep.. it happened at school in between lessons, so the place was crowded, and I dont know how or why, but i just smacked, face first into the door making a ';doof'; sound as I hit it, getting a weird look from the guy on the other side of the door.

:oHas anybody ever walked into a clear glass door?
No, but it happened to my friend. We hadn't met for years and we had just arranged to meet up in the local restaurant. He spotted me and started running towards me and we were both going to hug each other and his face slammed into the door. If it wasn't for the fact that he was my best friend, I would've laughed my head off. So, our meal was destroyed in the end and I had to take him to A%26amp;E to get treated 'cos he got a broken nose. Haha.
i havent but my friend did

it was an open glass door but while i walked through the door she walked straight into the pane of glass the door meets when its closed. it was sooo funny i was in hysterics for about ten minutes straight. the shopkeeper kept giving me funny looks...
yeah when i was younger and moved house there were large french doors that lead into the conservatory, walked into them all the time. led to my mum putting stickers on them so i could see when they were closed. looking back makes me cringe and feel a right twit. but the best of us do it!!!
Yep. I walked into one. Then I opened it. I went to the kitchen to get ice for my head and when I was there my someone closed it and when I came back I thought it was open and walked into it again.
yep at a train station i was walking next thing bang the glass was so clean it did'nt see it
No. but after i cleaned one someone walked right through and had glass go through his vein in his leg. went to hospital.
    yes lol

  • I need help with coloring clear Borosilicate glass. How much pigment do I need for about 187 g of glass?

The general rule is: the deeper the colour required, the more pigment to be added. The quantity of pigment also depends on the type of pigment - some are very strong and give a deep shade with very little concentration, and other pigments require a high addition to give a desired shade. You will just have to try and see what results you get. It is impossible to give an exact answer to so general a question.

Why would you spend money on X-ray film when you could purchase sheets of acetate at any art supply store? It comes in various thicknesses and, in fact, I'll bet X-ray film IS on acetate.

Why is it when you hold a glass of water up close it is clear but when you look at the ocean it is blue?

water is clear up close, why is it blue or green at a distance and in large quantities? Why is it when you hold a glass of water up close it is clear but when you look at the ocean it is blue?
It's a trick. The water is always blue. It's just a very, very faint blue. In small quantities (like a glassful) your eye isn't sensitive enough to detect the blueness. Follow the link if you don't believe me!Why is it when you hold a glass of water up close it is clear but when you look at the ocean it is blue?
Because it reflects the sky and the sky is blue.
it has a blue undertone...i think
    reflecting the sky
It's all about light waves. The light in your house, the sun, you name it, all give off light waves. The water in your cup, like the water in the ocean and lakes, are dense enough to stop blue from being absorbed, in turn reflecting it. Making it visible to your eye. That's all. It's not from reflecting the sky... sorry.
oxygen reflects blue light waves. If you see green , it's from chlorophyll in plankton. Most plankton is microscopic so it takes a large quantity to show up.
occeanwater is blue because the rays from the sky are reflected, refracted or mixed together to form white light.

There is no sky to enable this process with a glass of water.
    It's reflecting the sky.
mineral content and reflection from the surroundings.
    its very deep
both the quantity and the impurities mean a lot to the colour showing, but even more important is the reflected colour of the sky.
    deeper water !

    %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;Naveen KumarWhat makes glass clear?
The chemical bonds in clear glass don't absorb any visible light (but e.g. are opaque for infrared). It appears clear when it has a smooth surface, and opaque when the surface is roughened (e.g. etched). A wide range of crystals are as clear as glass, for the same reasons under the same circumstances. What makes glass clear?
there are three kinds of glass- transparent, translucent, and opaque. if you are talking about the transparent glass as clear, it is because no opaque particulates is mixed with the transparent glass during manufacturing processess or the molecules of the manufactured glass are very much randomized providing mini windows for light to pass

With brute strength, no smart **** tricks here, jimmy the collar off, you may have to split it and you might spill a little vodka but sounds like you have a litre and a half to play with... • If glasses are clear and water is clear, why can you see water in a glass?

Before finding the answer why cay we see water in a glass, let us find the answer why glass is visible even though it is clear.

A transparent material glass is not only allowing the light to pass through it but it reflects some portion of light falling on it.

When we look into a glass fitted to the window, we see the reflected images of objects which are in front of the glass and we also see the objects which are behind the glass. Also we see objects like dust and other material present on both sides of the glass. If the glass plate is perfectly clean, we will have a doubt whether there is a glass or not. In that case only the reflecting property will guide us to decide.

Now remove the glass plate from the panel. Air alone is present.

We are in the air medium and hence there is no question of reflection. Air is transparent and we are not seeing air.

If dust particles are present we see the dust particles in air.

Smoke which is having different refractive index than air makes us distinguish between air and smoke.

Thus mainly the reflecting properties of transparent material guide us to perceive the presence of these materials.

In a lengthy tube whose upper surface and lower surface are not visible and filled with water, we can't perceive the presence of clear water. However we can perceive the presence of the tube because its surface reflects and the rays coming through the tube from behind are refracted by it.If glasses are clear and water is clear, why can you see water in a glass?
    Refraction %26amp; reflection.

They're clear, not invisible. If glasses are clear and water is clear, why can you see water in a glass?
    light distortion
Hard to believe but glass is a frozen liquid. Glass is either molten or solid there's no in between. When water is poured into a clear glass the outside corner radius of the glass distorts by refraction the clear liquid inside making the water clearly visible top bottom and sides.
Water and glass distort the air differently, as the light hits the water, your eye percives it differently than the glass

If glasses are clear and water is clear, why can you see water in a glass?

My Princess House glass is cloudy, is there any way to clear it?

I have a set of Princess House ice tea glasses, retired pattern. One glass all of a sudden turned cloudy, and I don't know how to get the crystal clear again or even why it happened. Any suggestions? Thanks everyone! My Princess House glass is cloudy, is there any way to clear it?
If you have been running them through the dishwasher, they could be permanently etched and there is no way to remove it. You can test that however because if it is only a build up of mineral deposits from hard water white vinegar will remove it (so will CLR, but vinegar is way cheaper). Just fill a container with 2/3 vinegar and 1/3 hot water, then submerge the glasses in the solution and soak overnight. If the cloudiness disappears, it is mineral deposits and if it doesn't they are etched. My Princess House glass is cloudy, is there any way to clear it?
A dishwasher will do that to glasses sometimes. Only my newest ones are still clear, but I have a better dishwasher now.

Our canary has stopped bathing. Sings and eats well and is very active. Using clear glass ashtray.?

Found a glass vile with a clear liquid?

  • How romantic would it be if I put a diamond bracelet in a clear masonry jar filled with salt & broken glass?

When the light hits the shards of glass just right it creates a prism effect that is simply stunning.

    POLL: Iodine %26amp; Band-Aids ~or~ Divorce Papers %26amp; Lawyers?

How romantic would it be if I put a diamond bracelet in a clear masonry jar filled with salt %26amp; broken glass?
    MARRY ME!

I'll take Lawyers and Iodine. It's good for the thyroid AND the legal system. How romantic would it be if I put a diamond bracelet in a clear masonry jar filled with salt %26amp; broken glass?
Not romantic but perhaps prophetic considering your POLL. However, you'd be hard-pressed to find diamonds among the divorce papers and lawyers, unless you were the lawyer (and if you were the woman you'd already have the diamonds).

The imagery is good to define some marriages - bright anticipation only to be punctured by reality OR with work and ingenuity bringing out a thing of beauty and value.

    Good thought provoking question!!!
if you mean SEA GLASS then yes, this could be romantic, BUT getting the sand out of the diamond bracelet = no fun.

why not put the bracelet around a bouquet of roses? or put it on her while she's sleeping, so when she wakes up, its there?
I guess this explains your frequent use of the term ';jazz hands'; and love of musicals.

    Iodine and Band-Aids.
that could be somewhat romantic. just be careful with the broken glass. making a trip to the ER for stitches does not qualify as romantic.
I think its better to dip the bracelet in a vat of mayo and rubbing alcohol. Nothin says '; I love you'; like rotted mayo encrusted bracelets and skin burns.
I am a hopeless romantic that is a known butter-fingered, rubber-gloved monocle eyepiece wearing fool .... so I'm prepared to be very grateful.

Yikes - her lil' falangies would be ribbonized while trying to be greedy!

    Iodine and bandaids, less expensive.
You did wash the jar after your 3rd court ordered trip to the rehab clinic, didn't you.

Divorce papers signed in iodine. It's less painful than blood.
Timinator, you make a good argument.

    Iodine %26amp; Band-Aids it is!
    iodine and band aids

never understimate the power of iodine lol
not borken glass..somthing.ophh i got it you know those really pretty clear rocks at the bottm of fishtanks...or what you use to play mancala? use diffrent colors of that..
    Incredibly.

    POLL: Iodine %26amp; Band-Aids
    yeah, that would be pretty(:

haha iodine and band aids, definately
    your funny!

    Iodine %26amp; Band-Aids
Hmm. Can you think of something else? Perhaps something that doesn't involve the risk of deep cuts?
I like the idea, that way you know or not if she really liked what you picked out for her.
    Very
Pretty goddamn romantic...I'm too cheap to buy diamonds.
Kind of stupid to be honest LOL..Just sounds like you bragging about how much you spent on her/him..............It's a gift. Now a showcased event of how much you spent!!
I would be a very willing receipient

    :)
that sounds romatic but whoever might cut themselvves on the glass
    it's a brilliant idea
    amazing idea ..
Sounds good, but try a glass vase instead.
most likely band aids, try something else to surprise her. like served at dinner in a restraunt?
It would look real nice and shiny!

I'd settle for the iodine and band-aids
Wow, *swoon* where have you been all my life?!? lol

    Iodine and band aids :)
kind of cool, actually. youre creative.
thanks in advance for the points NOPE
well it would be ok until time to get it out of that jar.

If glass is made of sand, why is it clear and not sandy coloured?

Scientific anwers only please, no guess work!If glass is made of sand, why is it clear and not sandy coloured?
It's mostly made of silica (SiO2) (that they call it silica glass) and pure silica is colorless like float glasses. other additives help silica to melt it in lower temperatures. If glass is made of sand, why is it clear and not sandy coloured?
It is not just sand that is used,Other things are added.
Glass is not made OF sand (i.e. it is not JUST sand) but it is made WITH sand. As to the clarity: think of the difference between snow and water. Snow is opaque, but water is transparent. The same is true of sand. Grains of sand are crystalline structures which refract and reflect light irregularly. If you took a single grain, you would notice that it is slight translucent, but when you put a whole beach-ful of grains together, it takes on the sandy tan color you note.

When the sand is melted, and allowed to cool in an amorphous rather than a crystalline structure (as in glass), it becomes transparent. Then, the addition of various minerals allows that transparent glass to be colored in various ways.
Glass is made from almost pure silica sand. Silica sand for glass manufacturing composed of at least 98% SiO2 and less than .06% Fe2O3. The chemical they add depend on what color they want.

Silica sand when melted at a very high temperature and suddenly cooled will form as a transparent material because it has no time to recryrtallize.
Sand is silica, and silca comes in many degrees of purity. Very pure silica, with some other additives, will produce clear glass. Working with silica in a hot glass plant involves actual recipes which are used to produce different ';colors'; of glass.
Glass is a fusion between a number of materials. Typically float glass, that is sheet glass and bottle glass, are both clear formulations. The formulation is usually silica sand, limestone dolomite and potash. To get clear glass the iron and impurity content must be low. Have a look through the side of a sheet of glass and you will see a green colour, this is the impurities most likely to be iron. The silica sand is no longer sand in its chemical format but a silicate of calcium, magnesium and potassium. Clarifyers are added like sodium sulphate and lead (lead crystal). So silica sand becomes a complex chemical mixture.
