The websites I've searched through are about actual marbles, and very few refer to the play. Help?Does anyone know any websites to amazlyze the monologue in ';Clear Glass Marbles';?
what exactly do you need to know....i feel like an analysis is unnecessary. the monologue says everything you need. the marbles were a security blanket for her mom. her mom was severely old fashioned and never wanted or intended to be a burden to her family. even though that's exactly what she became. death, as an inevitability, is a burden that is handed down to those left alive. i feel like she physically pushed her family aware as she felt she neared death but never really wanted to let them go...as she still had a marble left in her hand at her death. the marbles were also a way for her to get her family away but letting them know at the same time she was alive. the daughter would listen for that marble every night. the true analysis of this monologue is being able to beat it out...actor beats. it's written in seemingly willy nilly paragraph form however the daughter changes thoughts several times in some situations within the body of the paragraph. anyway...it's a great monologue! it one me 1st in DI state forensics competition.
